Events and venue hire
St Mary's offers a superb acoustic and ethereal atmosphere for all forms of music performance. In the past we've hosted funk by Omar Lye Fook, electronica by Stars of the Lid, folk by Julie Byrne and Nadia Reid, musical theatre with the world premiere of Guilty of Love - The Alan Turing Story, and a full orchestra and choir with the Brighton College Choral Society. Plus we usually manage to squeeze in The Great Escape music festival in May as well as several Brighton Fringe events.
The church also provides a dramatic setting for fashion shoots, music videos, and location filming, and a friendly, central Brighton location for public meetings and debates. The church can seat an audience of up to 350 people. Our pricing policy is flexible and we will always attempt to accommodate community groups, schools, young artists and fledgling creative companies at affordable rates. We are keen to have our beautiful building used by as many people as possible and want our neighbours to see St Mary's as a community asset. We do not tolerate expressions of racism, sexism, or homophobia, but we are open to healthy, creative debate and we may surprise you with our broadminded approach. It's worth asking whether your event or artistic creation might find a welcoming home at St Mary's. Click on the link for information about our facilities and hiring the church. You can also check existing bookings on the church calendar, and view a music video, Treasure Trove by Jacko Hooper, that perfectly captures the St Mary's magic. Contact Email us or call Philip on 07434 121659. We also have two large rooms in our church hall available for hire at affordable rates, which offer excellent rehearsal, meeting, tuition and activities space.
