Worship and services
Coronavirus Update - 1 August 2020
We are gradually - and cautiously - opening our doors for longer hours and more services. Please remember to sign in, observe social distancing, use the sanitiser provided, and wear a face mask if possible. Face masks become mandatory on 8 August, unless you have a medical exemption from wearing one.
Please see our Regular Services page for details of all our current services, including our live-streamed Sunday worship. There are also links there to recordings of recent services.
If you would like a prayer said for yourself or others, please use our confidential Can we pray for you? link.
Please see too the suggested prayers and liturgy for worship at home on the Church of England website.
St Mary’s is a welcoming, inclusive church which encourages the participation of everyone in all aspects of church life, irrespective of age, gender, sexual identity and physical or mental ability.
We follow a traditional, Catholic style of worship, which sits happily with the church’s elegant and serene interior. Our main act of worship, on Sundays at 10 am, is a Sung Eucharist conducted according to the Common Worship liturgy. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served in the church immediately after the service - a time of sharing and conviviality that we regard as an important part of our ministry.
Other services include Morning Prayer on Mondays , Wednesdays and Fridays, and a Said Eucharist on Tuesdays at 6.30pm and Wednesdays at 12.30 pm.
Please follow the links for the full list of our regular services and worship opportunities and for information about baptisms, weddings and funerals.
