The Friends of St Mary's, Brighton
The Friends of St Mary’s Brighton was launched with a welcome party at the church on 25 February 2014. It exists to provide a fundraising and support group for St Mary’s that appeals not just to members of the church family, but also to non-churchgoers who may appreciate this beautiful building for historical or aesthetic reasons, or for its community potential.
Friends are invited to help raise funds for the repair of the existing church building and the improvement of its facilities as a performance and arts venue. They are also involved in raising awareness of the building's heritage value.
As part of our Repair and New Build Project we hope, by 2020, to have built a new entrance with integrated toilet, kitchen and bar facilities on the block of Council-owned land immediately to the west of the church.
The aim is to secure better facilities without compromising the fine acoustic and aesthetic appeal of the church interior and at the same time to improve amenities and the streetscape environment for everyone in the St James’s Street neighbourhood of Brighton.
Information is available here about joining the Friends, along with details of subscription rates and volunteering opportunities. See here for details about donating to the Friends to aid the repair of the church fabric and the improvement of the church's facilities.
